Group History

St James Players Logo

St James Players was formed in 1982. The group came about as a suggestion by the vicar at the time Reverand Peter Samman who had produced several plays and pantomimes during his time at the church.

Before leaving the parish in 1985 Reverend Samman donated a vast collection of props and costumes to the group enabling them to continue producing plays and pantomimes. A fact that was highlighted in the Lancashire Evening Post. A copy of the article can be viewed here.

Several of the members have turned their hand to directing and producing and people who vowed they would only take part in backstage roles have had their arms twisted into appearing "on the boards !"
